When it comes to broadband connections, Airtel consistently lags behind Reliance. In this segment, Reliance Jio holds the greatest market share, with Airtel’s connections accounting for about half of that. As a result, Airtel has a solid plan. The company will now quickly expand its Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service connections.

9 crore connections are the target.

In the medium term, Airtel plans to expand its fixed broadband connection count to 9 crores. Its revenue will rise as a result. The company’s fixed wireless access based on 5G has increased recently.

Gopal Vittal, MD and Vice Chairman of the firm, claims that the number of Airtel’s 5G-based broadband connections is growing. The company currently offers its services in 2,000 communities across the nation. Additionally, the company added 19 lakhs new FTTH connections between October and December. The company is now on par with rival Reliance Jio in the FWA segment. The company has expanded quickly in areas like Odisha and the Northeast.

Airtel is currently concentrating on its 4.5 crore fixed broadband customer base, according to ET’s news. To reach 9 crores, the company hopes to quadruple it.

In the October–December quarter, Airtel’s homes broadband division had a 19% year-over-year rise in revenue. In contrast, it grew by 17% during last year’s July–September quarter. In the same way, the company’s subscriber base in this segment grew by 2 percent in the second quarter to 27 percent in the third.
