Good news for women’s. The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to take charge in Delhi again after nearly 27 years. They’ve secured a significant victory, winning 48 out of 70 seats. This new BJP government is expected to bring substantial benefits to women in Delhi. Before the elections, the party made several commitments to support women in their Sankalp Patra.

One of the key promises was to provide gas cylinders for just Rs 500. So, with the BJP back in power, women in Delhi can now access gas cylinders at this reduced price. But who exactly qualifies for this Rs 500 cylinder? What are the guidelines? Let’s break it down.

Now that the BJP is forming the government in Delhi, they had laid out various promises in their Sankalp Patra prior to the elections. One of those was the Rs 500 gas cylinders for women.

However, many women are wondering who will actually be eligible for these cylinders. The specifics will become clear only after the new government is officially in place.

Are you eligible for benefits under the Ujjwala Yojana?

The Indian government launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to help provide gas connections to underprivileged women. This initiative offers free gas connections, including a gas stove and a cylinder, to those in need.

Initially, the scheme provided a subsidy of Rs 200 for 12 cylinders, but that amount has now been raised to Rs 300. In Delhi, a gas cylinder costs about Rs 800, but with the subsidy from the Ujjwala Yojana, women can get it for around Rs 500.
