Food Security: Cabinet Minister Sumit Godara of the Rajasthan Government announced that, as part of the state-run Give Up Campaign, over 8.38 lakh individuals have voluntarily removed their names from the food security list to date. He indicated that the campaign will remain active until February 28. By encouraging those who have surpassed the poverty line to withdraw from the list, the state aims to extend food security benefits to a greater number of eligible individuals.

Godara urged those who are capable and currently listed for food security to participate in the campaign and remove their names. He also noted that if voluntary removals do not occur, the government will identify ineligible families and take appropriate measures. To prevent recovery or other punitive actions, it is advisable for ineligible individuals to withdraw from the food security list.

Godara further mentioned that there are 9 lakh pending applications from previous years for food security linkage, which are being processed expeditiously to ensure that eligible individuals can access food security benefits. He proposed that, in the near future, the District Collector be granted the authority to link families lacking food security to the National Food Security Act (NFSA) through special appeal rights.

KYC process is being effectively implemented

The minister highlighted that the Know Your Customer (KYC) process is being effectively implemented to maximize food security coverage, with over 88 percent of individuals having completed e-KYC.
