Yamaha MT-09 SP was presented at Yamaha’s pavilion during the India Mobility Global Expo 2025. This naked motorcycle has undergone significant updates in 2025, featuring a refreshed design and a new color scheme that enhance its visual appeal. We will explore the new enhancements introduced in the Yamaha MT-09 SP and its anticipated launch date in India.
Features and technology
The updated Yamaha MT-09 SP boasts a lightweight aluminum frame, complemented by a 41 mm USD fork at the front and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. For braking, it is equipped with a 298 mm disc at the front and a 245 mm disc at the rear, resulting in improved braking performance. The Y-AMT version does not include a traditional clutch lever; instead, it utilizes an actuator to manage gear shifts based on throttle input and lean angle. However, the motorcycle displayed at the Auto Expo 2025 was a 6-speed manual variant, which is the model set to be launched in India.
Engine specifications
The new Yamaha MT-09 SP retains the familiar 890 cc inline 3-cylinder engine, producing 117 BHP at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It features three riding modes: Sport, Street, and Rain. In terms of safety, the MT-09 SP is equipped with a 6-axis IMU, back slip regulator, traction control, slide control system, and front wheel lift control system.
Launch date
The launch of the new Yamaha MT-09 SP in India is expected to occur between May and June 2025. It will be available as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and will only be imported upon customer order. The anticipated price in India is approximately Rs 13 lakh.
