Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: Sealdah Court has sentenced Sanjay Roy to life imprisonment in the case of rape and murder of a female trainee doctor of RG Kar Hospital. CBI had told the court that the culprit should be hanged. While reading his verdict, the judge said that this case was not the rarest of the rarest.

Therefore, Sanjay Roy has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The court has clearly stated that Sanjay’s sentence will not end in 14 years, but he will have to spend his entire life behind bars. In addition, a fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed on the accused.

On the other hand, the victim’s family expressed displeasure over the court’s decision. After this, the judge said, “I have done my job. You can also take this case to a higher court.”

The court has ordered the West Bengal government to give compensation of Rs 17 lakh to the deceased’s family. At the same time, Sanjay was seen pleading before the judge during the hearing before the announcement of the sentence. The accused told the judge that I am not guilty. I am being framed. I have not committed any crime.

The verdict came after 162 days.

The court ruled and declared Sanjay Roy guilty about 162 days after this incident, which occurred on 8-9 August 2024. The hearing, in this case,e lasted about 57 days. Earlier, the Kolkata police investigated this case. It was handed over to the CB, which took over the investigation on August 13.
