Imran Khan Jail:- A Pakistani court has sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan to 14 years in a land corruption case. The case concerns the corruption of 190 million pounds of Al-Qadir Trust. Apart from Imran Khan, his wife Bushra has also been sentenced to 7 years.
Imran Khan has also been fined Rs 10 lakh, and his wife Rs 5 lakh. If they fail to pay the fine, the former Prime Minister will serve an additional six months, and Bushra will serve three months.
The court was set up in the jail
At the time of the sentence announcement, tight security was inside and outside the jail. The National Accountability Bureau had filed a case against Imran Khan, his wife Bushra and five others in December 2023. A serious allegation of causing a loss of 190 million pounds to the national treasury has been made. However, due to the other accused being out of the country, only Imran Khan and his wife were tried. Imran’s party, Tehreek-e-Insaf, has opposed this decision.
The decision was postponed several times.
The decision in this case was to be given on December 23, but the decision was postponed till January 6 due to winter vacation. After this, Judge Nasir Javed Rana went on leave, due to which the date of January 6 was extended to January 13, but now the court has given the verdict.
Former PM Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bieber, PTI barrister Gauhar Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Salman Akram Raja, and other lawyers were in the jail. Imran Khan said that the decision has tarnished the reputation of the judiciary. Neither has nor has the government benefitted from the case. I do not want any relief and will face all the cases.

What is the Al Qadir Trust case?
The case is related to Al Qadir Trust University. It has been alleged that Imran Khan, the Prime minister, along with his wife, Bushra Bibi and some other leaders of PTI, formed the Al-Qadir University Project Trust. Its purpose was to establish ‘Al-Qadir University’ to provide ‘quality education’ in Sohawa district Jhelum of Punjab.
For this university, Imran and his wife illegally illegally grabbed the land of a residential complex. They also threatened Pakistan’s richest person, Malik Riaz. It was also revealed that Imran’s wife,, Bushra Bibi,, demanded a five-carat diamond ring. Wife Bushra Bibi and other PTI leaders were also accused of causing a loss of about 50 billion Pakistani rupees to the national treasury.
