A big incident happened in Hyderabad. An 86-year-old man, Velamati Chandrasekhar Janardhan Rao, who founded the Veljan Group of Industries, was tragically killed in his own home. His body showed numerous stab wounds. As the police began their investigation, a shocking twist emerged. Just three days post-murder, they arrested his grandson, Kilaru Keerthi Teja, on suspicion of killing his maternal grandfather, a crime linked to a property dispute.
Authorities revealed that Teja allegedly stabbed his grandfather over 70 times. They are still waiting for the postmortem results. The murder weapon has been found, and it’s reported that Teja also attacked his mother, who is now hospitalized. In a fit of rage, he repeatedly struck his grandfather. After the incident, he changed out of his blood-stained clothes.
Teja was apprehended close to his home. Police confirmed that the victim had multiple stab wounds, but the exact count will be determined once the post-mortem report is available. Although there were rumors that Teja had fled the city after the incident, he was caught near the Panjagutta flyover, not far from where the crime took place.
Teja had just come back to Hyderabad after finishing his master’s degree in the US, according to the police. He was staying in Lanco Hills, a gated community in the western part of the city. Teja was feeling pretty frustrated with Rao, believing he was being treated unfairly compared to the other family members. Janardhan Rao has three daughters and a son, and Teja is the son of Sarojini, who is the second daughter.
On the day of the murder, police reported that Teja went to his grandfather’s house with his mom in the evening. There, he got into a heated argument with his grandfather and ended up attacking him. A police officer mentioned that when the victim’s mother tried to intervene, Teja turned on her as well. It was actually the victim’s mother who called her brother in Jubilee Hills to let him know about the murder.
