HMPV Alert – First Case Reported in Bengaluru, Govts issue advisory, Check Here Symptoms

HMPV Update: China has caused great concern worldwide, including in India. These days, there is a fear of a new virus, Human Metapneumovirus, in China. This virus is rapidly catching people of all ages. Now, HMPV, or Human Metapneumovirus, has also entered India.

According to the information, the first HMPV patient has been reported in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. An 8-month-old child with a fever was admitted to the hospital. Recently, advisories have also been issued regarding HMPV in many states, including Delhi and Maharashtra. There have been reports of increasing cases of HMPV in China.

The child is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital in the city. The Karnataka Health Department has confirmed that the child has HMPV, and the department says that the child’s medical tests were positive. The Union Health Ministry has also been informed about this. However, it is not yet clear whether this is the same strain of HMPV spreading in China.

This dangerous virus is rapidly affecting people of all ages. People worldwide, including India, are increasingly concerned that this respiratory virus is as deadly as coronavirus.

At the same time, state governments are also taking precautions at their level. Delhi and Kerala governments have already issued advisories regarding this. Now, the Maharashtra government has issued an alert regarding this virus. After a high-level meeting of DGHS, the Maharashtra government issued an advisory regarding HMPV  for the state’s people. Also, the government has appealed to the people not to panic but to be cautious about it.

What are the symptoms of HMPV?

The HMPV virus affects small children, the elderly, and sick people more. According to the CDC, common symptoms associated with HMPV include cough, fever, nasal congestion, and difficulty breathing.

HMPV is an airborne disease, meaning it spreads through the air. It is an infectious respiratory disease that can proves. This disease also spreads between two people through the respiratory system. It can also be an object or shaking hands with someone.
