Post-Maha Kumbh Stampede: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued his first statement on Wednesday Early Morning after the stampede at Maha Kumbh Mela Allahabad. He appealed to the devotees not to pay attention to rumours and said, “Wherever you are, take a bath there. Do not try to go towards Sangam Nose.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed deep concern over this tragic incident and spoke to Chief Minister Yogi twice and inquired about the developments. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to CM Yogi and assured all possible help from the Center.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed to devotees to take a bath at the ghat near Maa Ganga and not try to approach Sangam Nose. He also asked them to follow the administration’s instructions and cooperate with the system. He also said that devotees should not pay attention to any rumour.

The news of a stampede at Sangam Nose came at around one o’clock at night. Although the administration has not yet provided any concrete information about the causes of the stampede, according to eyewitnesses, the situation arose due to the sudden arrival of a large crowd. After this incident, the Akhada Parishad announced the cancellation of Shahi Snan. Many sadhus and saints took a sip of Ganga near their camps and celebrated the day of Shahi Snan with reverence.

Mahakumbh Mela is famous worldwide. This year, around 8 to 10 crore devotees were expected to bathe on the day of Mauni Amavasya. Crores of devotees started gathering in Maha Kumbh Nagar two days in advance.
