PF Balance: If you are employed in the private sector, you are likely to have a Provident Fund (PF) account managed by the Employees Provident Fund Organization. Each month, 12 percent of your basic salary is contributed to this PF account, matched by an equal contribution from your employer. These funds are allocated towards both the PF and pension schemes, and they accrue a significant amount of interest. Many employees often wonder whether their employer is indeed making these contributions. Fortunately, there are several straightforward methods to check the balance of your PF account, allowing you to verify the deposits being made.
Four ways to check, 2 phone numbers
Employees can monitor their PF balance by downloading the Umang app on their smartphones. This application enables users to submit claims, view their EPF passbook, and track their claims. To utilize the app, you must enter your phone number and complete a one-time registration process.
Additionally, EPFO members can check their PF account balance and the most recent contributions by sending an SMS to 7738299899. To do this, you need to type “AN EPFOHO ENG” from your registered mobile number and send the message. The “ENG” indicates that you wish to receive the information in English; if you prefer another language, simply use the first three letters of that language.
If your mobile number is linked to your Universal Account Number (UAN), you can also check your PF balance by making a missed call from your registered mobile number to 9966044425. Following the missed call, you will receive messages from EPFO detailing your PF account balance.
To access your PF passbook, visit the EPFO website, navigate to the employees section, and click on member passbook. By entering your UAN and password, you can view your passbook, which will display the opening and closing balances, as well as contributions from both the employee and employer. It will also show any PF transfers and the total interest accrued on your PF account.
