Great news! Over 77 lakh pensioners get digital life certificates

Good news for lakhs of pensioners. As many as 77 lakh Digital Life Certificates (DLCs) have been issued so far under the central government’s drive to make the lives of pensioners easier. This information was given by the government. As many as 1,77,153 pensioners covered under the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) campaign 3.0 are above 90 years of age, while 17,212 pensioners are aged 80-90 years, an official statement by the government said.

The campaign was launched two weeks ago

According to official data, 24 lakh digital life certificates were issued through advanced authentication methods like facial recognition, which is 34 per cent of the total DLC generated. Elderly pensioners have been given the facility to submit DLC from their home or at nearby offices or bank branches. The campaign was launched about two weeks ago.

State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) have led the drive and issued over 9 lakh DLCs by the end of the second week of the launch of the campaign. Canara Bank and Central Bank of India have issued 1 lakh and 57,000 DLCs, respectively.

Maharashtra makes record

State-wise, Maharashtra has been at the forefront with more than 10 lakh DLCs, followed by Tamil Nadu and West Bengal with 6 lakh each. Uttar Pradesh has also performed well with more than 5 lakh DLCs. The campaign is being carried out from November 1-30 in 800 cities and towns during which 1,575 camps were organised. As many as 1.8 lakh postmen have also been deployed across the country to help implement the campaign.

The campaign was launched on November 6 to enhance ease and convenience for pensioners across the country with the participation of banking institutions and government agencies. …
