Pay Commission Update: The central government gave the gift of an increase in dearness allowance to its employees before the New Year. With the 3 per cent DA hike, the dearness allowance for central employees and pensioners across the country has increased to 53 per cent. In addition to the DA, the government has increased two more allowances for employees. This increase will directly impact the salaries of central employees.
Salary of Central Employees to Increase Again
The central government increased the dearness allowance (DA) of central employees by 3% in July, bringing it to 53%. Additionally, the government has raised two more allowances: Nursing Allowance and Dress Allowance. These increases will directly benefit employees in the healthcare sector.
Nursing Allowance and Dress Allowance Increased
Following the circular issued by EPFO on July 4, 2024, a 25% increase in other allowances is recommended once the DA surpasses 50%. Both nursing and dress allowances were revised in September 2024 for eligible employees.

What Is Nursing Allowance?
Nursing and dress allowances are provided to employees working in government hospitals and under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. When DA exceeds 50%, both allowances receive a 25% increase.

Looking Ahead to the 8th Pay Commission
The Central Pay Commission is formed every 10 years. The 7th Pay Commission, implemented on January 1, 2016, is still in effect. Employees are now eagerly awaiting the formation of the 8th Pay Commission.
