Good news for state employees. There is a good news has come for the employees of Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL). The management of the company has announced a 1.9 percent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees, benefiting approximately 4,000 staff members. Following this adjustment, employee salaries will rise by a minimum of Rs 500 and up to Rs 2,000. The latest directive indicates that the dearness allowance has been raised from 42.8 percent to 44.7 percent. These revised rates will take effect in January 2025, with employees seeing the changes reflected in their January 2025 salaries.
A notification regarding this increase has been circulated, generating a sense of joy among the workforce. This adjustment is viewed as a constructive measure for employee welfare, as it is expected to enhance their financial stability and alleviate some of the burdens caused by inflation.
In addition, there is positive news for central government employees. The central government reviews the rates of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) biannually, based on the All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) data. These revisions occur in January and July, with announcements made in February and March or September and October.
Currently, central government employees and pensioners are receiving a dearness allowance and relief of 53 percent, effective from July 2024. The new rates are anticipated to be implemented in January 2025, with potential adjustments around the time of Holi, when further increases in dearness allowance and relief may be announced.
