Bank Account: Cyber fraudsters are evolving just as times are changing. In this context, cybercriminals are ensnaring individuals in various methods during the New Year as well. Following wedding invitations, there is now a risk of deception through New Year wishes.

Police has warned

In this context, cyber police has warned the public to remain vigilant about cyber attacks. Individuals utilizing Android smartphones should remain vigilant regarding this. If you feel joy upon getting congratulatory messages, then your account might also be depleted. In fact, throughout the wedding season, cybercriminals aimed at numerous individuals by delivering them wedding card APK files.

Wedding card APK file via WhatsApp

Upon obtaining the ‘wedding card APK file’ via WhatsApp, individuals began installing it. Once it was installed, their account began to deplete. In this scenario, cyber police have warned the public that fraudsters may send APK files as New Year’s greetings via WhatsApp and other messaging applications. Your phone will be compromised immediately after you install the APK file. Once the APK file is clicked and the application is installed on your mobile, all your actions on the device will be visible to the fraudsters.

Subsequently, each time you access your UPI app, your password and other details will be sent to the fraudsters. The fraudsters will then withdraw funds from your account. In this scenario, the cyber police are warning individuals against downloading APK files received via messaging apps. If you receive any unfamiliar link, refrain from clicking on it as well.

File a complaint

If you are a victim of online fraud, you can file a complaint right away by calling 1930. You must contact this number within 24 hours of the cybercrime. If you reach out promptly, you can receive a refund. In addition to this, you may also file a complaint at the closest cyber police station.
