25% increase in this allowance for government employees, lakhs of people eill benefit

Good news for state government employees. Government employees in Haryana are set to receive a 25 percent increase in their child education allowance. Starting from January 1, 2024, the monthly child education allowance will be Rs 2812.5, while the hostel allowance will be Rs 8437.5. Additionally, employees with disabled children will receive Rs 5625 each month, and disabled women employees will be entitled to Rs 3750 for child care.

This increase in the child education allowance comes in response to new guidelines from the Central Government. When the dearness allowance rises by 50 percent under the revised pay structure, the child education allowance and hostel subsidy automatically increase by 25 percent.

As of January 1, 2024, the dearness allowance for employees benefiting from the 7th Pay Commission has surpassed the 50 percent mark, prompting various departments to seek clarification from the Personnel Department regarding the allowance adjustments.

The official notification confirms that the reimbursement for children’s education allowance will be set at Rs 2812.5 per month, with the hostel subsidy amounting to Rs 8437.5 monthly, regardless of the actual expenses incurred by the employee. Furthermore, for disabled children, the reimbursement will be provided at double the standard rates, again irrespective of the actual costs.
