Skoda Safety Ratings: Skoda recently introduced the Kylaq, marking its entry into the budget-friendly SUV market. This model has quickly gained recognition for its impressive safety features, earning a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection in the India NCAP (BNCAP) crash tests. As a result, the Kylaq stands out as one of the safest options in the sub-4-meter compact SUV category. Priced starting at Rs 7.89 lakh ex-showroom in India, deliveries are set to commence on January 27, 2025.
Skoda Kylaq performance in safety test
In terms of adult occupant safety, the Skoda Kylaq scored an impressive 30.88 out of 32 points (97%). It excelled in the frontal offset barrier test with 15.035 points out of 16 (94%) and achieved 15.840 points in the side-moving deformable barrier test. The stability of the cabin and footwell during these tests is a significant indicator of its safety performance.
Child safety rating
The vehicle also excelled in child occupant protection, securing 45 out of 49 points (92%). It received 16 points in the frontal test and 8 points in the side test for 1.5 and 3-year-old children, respectively. Additionally, it achieved full marks in the child seat assessment, confirming its suitability for young passengers.
Skoda Slavia and Skoda Kushaq
Other models from the company, such as the Kushaq and Slavia, have also received 5-star ratings in the BNCAP crash tests. Similarly, Volkswagen’s Tigun and Virtus have achieved the same high safety standards. With this track record, Skoda and Volkswagen are leading the way in vehicle safety, boasting the highest number of 5-star rated models in the market.
