After the disappointing performance of Indian batters in the Test series against New Zealand and Australia, the BCCI made it mandatory for Team India players to participate in domestic cricket. Following the BCCI’s guidelines, players like Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill took part in the second round of the Ranji Trophy, which started on January 23. However, the performance of the senior team batsmen was still disappointing. This is the first time since 2015 that Rohit Sharma has played a Ranji match.
