The implementation of the 8th Pay Commission will benefit 49 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners. The 7th Pay Commission is set to conclude on December 31, 2025. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has indicated that recommendations for the new pay commission will be reviewed in 2025, ensuring timely implementation before the current commission’s term ends.

The 8th Pay Commission is set to be implemented on this date

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced that the Central Government plans to implement the 8th Pay Commission in 2026. This initiative will benefit central employees and pensioners, leading to enhancements in allowances and pensions. The previous 7th Pay Commission report took the Central Government 18 months to present.

Projected salary increase –

Upon the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission’s recommendations, the minimum salary for central employees may rise from Rs 18,000 to approximately Rs 34,560, representing an increase of around 92 percent. Additionally, the minimum pension for pensioners could be raised to Rs 17,280. This adjustment, influenced by inflation and other economic factors, is expected to provide significant relief to government employees and pensioners.
