Ladki Behan Yojana Update: Maharashtra Government Withdraws Funds from Beloved Sisters’ Accounts, Details Inside

by Avijit DasJanuary 4, 2025

Crores of people in the state have benefited from the Ladki Behan scheme, which was also a major topic in the Maharashtra elections. However, after the elections, the criteria for the scheme have been tightened, and the re-examination of applications has begun. There have been increasing discussions about these new criteria. Recently, a case emerged where the government withdrew money from the account of a beneficiary under the scheme.

The government is now taking action against those who misused the scheme by violating the rules. In one case, seven and a half thousand rupees were withdrawn from a woman’s account in Dhule district. When the scheme was launched, specific criteria were set, and government funds were credited to beneficiaries’ accounts until the elections. Now, in areas where complaints have been received, the applications and documents of beneficiaries are being re-verified.

Why Did the Government Withdraw the Money?

The government withdrew money from the account of a woman in Nakane village, Dhule district, who had received five instalments of the Ladki Behan Yojana. Though she applied and received the funds, she was not eligible for the scheme. As a result, her application was rejected, and the money was taken back.

What Was Said About the Investigation?

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered a re-investigation of the Ladki Behan Yojana. On Friday, Aditi Tatkare provided detailed information about the process. Earlier, 10,000 applications were rejected in Pune, and the verification of all applications has now begun. Refunds will be collected from beneficiaries found ineligible. The Chief Minister had clearly stated that legal action would be taken against individuals who fraudulently claimed the benefits of the scheme (Ladki Behan Yojana Update).

Aditi Tatkare’s Explanation

Aditi Tatkare stated that based on complaints, all applications, excluding those with orange and yellow ration cards, will be reviewed. Applications from beneficiaries holding these two ration cards will also be investigated if any complaints are filed.

Application Disqualification Criteria

  1. Family income exceeding ₹2.5 lakhs.
  2. A four-wheeler registered in the name of anyone in the household.
  3. Receipt of benefits from other government employment-related schemes.
  4. Beneficiaries already receiving government scheme benefits.
  5. Women who moved out of Maharashtra for marriage after obtaining benefits.
  6. Applications submitted both online and offline will be rejected.
