It features a double overhead cam (DOHC) and a four-valve cylinder head, which helps generate more power at low RPMs. The engine is equipped with lightweight forged pistons and is paired with a six-speed transmission.

Yamaha currently sells the R3 and MT-03 models in India. Both updated bikes are expected to be launched in India in 2025. The ex-showroom price of the Yamaha R3 is ₹4.64 lakh, while the ex-showroom price of the MT-03 is ₹4.59 lakh.
